COVID-19 Procedures

Dear Patients, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the following procedures are implemented:

If you have travelled outside of the Province in the last 14 days, please self quarantine. Also, I am asthmatic. Therefore, anyone who has had COVID-19 and it has been less than 70 days, please do not schedule an appointment with me. It is unknown if the virus is able to reactivate.

The day before your massage appointment, please visit https://bc.thrive.health/covid19/en to complete the BC COVID-19 Self Assessment Tool. If you are advised to get tested for COVID-19, please dial 811

On the day of your massage appointment, I will call you to review the symptoms of COVID-19 to ensure you are asymptomatic.

Upon your arrival, please call me and I will meet you outside. In order to reduce droplet spread, it is imperative that you maintain a physical distance of at least 2 metres (6 feet) from another person.

I will be wearing a N95 respirator, gloves and goggles or face shield. I will spray your hands thoroughly with a solution of 90% isopropyl alcohol. Once your hands are dry, you will be given a N95 respirator to wear throughout your massage. We both must wear a respirator because there are people who are asymptomatic carriers who have unknowingly spread the virus to others. I have not been tested for COVID-19. You may purchase a healthcare N95 respirator for $8. Visit https://yourppe.ca  Please note, the cost is reflective of the DHL Express shipping from Saudi Arabia.

Once your respirator is on, you must refrain from touching your face (eyes) and the respirator itself. Do not touch any surfaces. I will open all doors and push the elevator button. We will maintain a distance of 2 metres apart during non hands on time.

You will be required to wash your hands before the treatment session begins. I will remove my gloves, use hand sanitizer and wash my hands. We will use paper towel or facial tissues to dry our hands.

Please note, all surfaces (massage table, chairs, faucet, toilet, door handles, light switches, etc) will be sprayed with either a bleach solution or a 90% isopropyl solution. Use a facial tissue to turn off lights and tap to avoid an allergic reaction to bleach.

The CMTBC has recommended the discontinuance of usage of thermophores.

To increase ventilation, all windows will be partially opened and a HEPA air purifier will be utilized

All white linens and towels will be washed with bleach, laundry detergent and hot water. Vinegar will be used instead of bleach for the grey sheets. All laundry is rinsed twice.

Once the massage is over, please wash your hands again. I will accompany you out of the building. You will not be required to touch any surfaces.

All payments must be done by e-transfer or direct billing. I am sorry, I do not have a tap card reader terminal. I will email your receipt.

The number of massage appointments per day will be reduced in order for thorough sanitization to be effected. I apologize if I am no longer able to accommodate you.

I thank you for your co-operation and patience.

Welcome. I am a Registered Massage Therapist located across from the Metropolis, Metrotown Mall, at Kingsway and McMurray Ave in Burnaby. Also, if there is need, I am a mobile RMT.

Massage therapy helps to manage pain and facilitate healing.

I provide relaxation, Deep Tissue, Sports, Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Prenatal (pregnancy) Massage treatments. Optional Kinesio and Functional Fascial Taping available.

Techniques

Swedish massage will decrease stress, muscle hypertonicity, pain, muscle spasm and, increase blood and lymph circulation, range of motion and immune system activity.

Tapotement techniques loosen mucus, increase local circulation and tone in a muscle, stimulate hypotrophied muscle and reduce generalized fatigue.

Manual lymphatic drainage reduces edema (swelling) by moving fluid from the tissue spaces into lymphatic circulation.

Myofascial Trigger Point techniques are used to reduce pain by decreasing hypertonicity and eliminating the trigger point (a nodule in a taut band of muscle).

Fascial techniques are used to address fascial restrictions, adhesions and shortening.

Joint Mobilization is used to increase the range of motion of a joint.

Static pressure techniques are used to reduce muscle spasm and tone when direct massage on the muscle belly is uncomfortable.

Cross-fibre friction breaks down adhesions to form a more mobile scar.

Kinesio Taping and Functional Fascial Taping.

Hot or cold hydrotherapy.
